Breasts that are too heavy or sagging can cause physical complaints—neck, shoulder, and back pain, as well as skin irritation in the breast fold—but also insecurity about shape and appearance.
With a breast reduction or breast lift, we restore not only comfort, but also the shape, firmness, and position of the breasts.
At Gooimeer Clinics, we combine medical precision with aesthetic insight, with the aim of achieving a natural and long-lasting result.
When breasts are heavy and cause physical discomfort, we remove excess breast tissue and skin.
The breast is lifted, reshaped, and made lighter—often providing immediate relief of symptoms.
When there is sufficient volume but the breast has sagged, we lift the breast and reposition the nipple to a natural location. Shape is restored without adding extra volume.
With this technique, we use your own breast tissue—tissue that would otherwise be removed—as central filling for the upper pole. This creates:
a fuller upper pole
better projection
without an implant
The amount of volume achievable is more limited than with an implant, but for women who do not want implants, this is a very elegant solution.

Dr. Van der Pot and Dr. Ahmed have extensive experience in breast surgery—both aesthetic and reconstructive—and are known for their natural results.
They regularly present their techniques and outcomes at international conferences and provide training for fellow surgeons.
Our focus:
natural proportions
long-term, stable shape
minimal tension on the skin and scars
Many women with sagging breasts still have enough volume, but it is positioned low in the breast.
With auto-augmentation:
your own tissue is repositioned to the upper pole
it acts as internal volume support
the breast can then be reshaped around it
The result:
a lifted breast
more upper pole fullness
no implant
A breast lift or reduction is almost always associated with an anchor-shaped scar:
around the areola
vertically downwards
along the breast fold
Many women feel hesitant beforehand about scarring. In practice, however, we find that:
scars usually fade well
patient satisfaction is high
the improvement in shape and comfort more than makes up for it
As is often said:
“Better a beautifully shaped breast with a scar than a less attractive breast without one.”
Of course, this remains a personal consideration.
During a lift, the nipple is repositioned.
This can cause a temporary change in sensation and, in rare cases, a permanent reduction in sensation.
During the operation, we take careful account of the course of the sensory nerves, which means that in most cases, most of the sensation is retained.
However, this can never be fully guaranteed.
Surgery under general anesthesia
Duration: several hours
One-night stay
Removal of excess tissue and skin
Repositioning of the nipple and areola
Reshaping of the breast
With auto-augmentation: repositioning your own tissue to the upper pole
Swelling and tenderness during the first weeks
Wearing a supportive bra
Light activities after 1–2 weeks
Gradually resuming sports
Final result after a few months
lighter, higher breasts
restored proportions
improved upper pole fullness
a naturally shaped décolletage
long-lasting relief of symptoms
bleeding (hematoma)
infection
wound-healing problems
delayed scar maturation
Anchor-shaped scars are permanent, but they usually fade well.
This may change temporarily or permanently.
(Partial) loss of the nipple due to impaired blood supply.
Risk factors:
smoking
a previous breast lift
significant nipple repositioning (approx. 10 cm or more)
If one or more risk factors apply, we always discuss this in detail beforehand. The chance of this complication is very small—but we believe it is important to mention it transparently.

Does a breast reduction always result in a lift?
Yes. During a reduction, the breast is automatically lifted and reshaped.
Can I choose between auto-augmentation and implants?
Yes. During the consultation, we will discuss what is anatomically feasible and what best suits your wishes.
Can I breastfeed after this procedure?
In many cases, this remains possible, but it cannot be guaranteed.
How long do the results of breast reduction surgery last?
The result is long-lasting, but skin quality and gravity continue to exert an influence. With careful technique, the shape usually remains stable for many years.
Is the result natural after a breast reduction?
Our approach is always: natural proportions that suit your body.
A breast lift or breast reduction is not just about “higher” or “smaller”. It is about restoring comfort, shape, nipple position and overall proportions — with a plan that suits your anatomy and everyday life. During a personal consultation, we carefully analyse your concerns, what is medically appropriate, and which technique will deliver the most natural and durable result.
During the consultation, you will receive:
an assessment of skin quality, breast volume, degree of sagging, and nipple/areola position
a clear explanation of the difference between a breast lift, breast reduction, and lift with auto-augmentation (using your own tissue)
evaluation of symptoms such as neck/shoulder/back pain and skin irritation in the breast fold, and what improvement you can realistically expect
guidance on scar patterns and how we minimise tension on skin and scars
a discussion of risks, recovery, supportive bra guidance and aftercare
example results and a personalised treatment plan with transparent pricing
Then we warmly invite you for a personal consultation at Gooimeer Clinics.
