Which procedure is right for you?

Breast reduction

When breasts are heavy and cause physical discomfort, we remove excess breast tissue and skin.
The breast is lifted, reshaped, and made lighter—often providing immediate relief of symptoms.


Breast lift

When there is sufficient volume but the breast has sagged, we lift the breast and reposition the nipple to a natural location. Shape is restored without adding extra volume.


Breast lift with auto-augmentation (your own tissue)

With this technique, we use your own breast tissue—tissue that would otherwise be removed—as central filling for the upper pole. This creates:

  • a fuller upper pole

  • better projection

  • without an implant


The amount of volume achievable is more limited than with an implant, but for women who do not want implants, this is a very elegant solution.

02 Creating shape with your own tissue

Many women with sagging breasts still have enough volume, but it is positioned low in the breast.


With auto-augmentation:

  • your own tissue is repositioned to the upper pole

  • it acts as internal volume support

  • the breast can then be reshaped around it


The result:

  • a lifted breast

  • more upper pole fullness

  • no implant

03 Scars

A breast lift or reduction is almost always associated with an anchor-shaped scar:

  • around the areola

  • vertically downwards

  • along the breast fold


Many women feel hesitant beforehand about scarring. In practice, however, we find that:

  • scars usually fade well

  • patient satisfaction is high

  • the improvement in shape and comfort more than makes up for it


As is often said:
“Better a beautifully shaped breast with a scar than a less attractive breast without one.”

Of course, this remains a personal consideration.

04 Nipple sensitivity

During a lift, the nipple is repositioned.

This can cause a temporary change in sensation and, in rare cases, a permanent reduction in sensation.

During the operation, we take careful account of the course of the sensory nerves, which means that in most cases, most of the sensation is retained.

However, this can never be fully guaranteed.

05 The procedure

  • Surgery under general anesthesia

  • Duration: several hours

  • One-night stay

  • Removal of excess tissue and skin

  • Repositioning of the nipple and areola

  • Reshaping of the breast

  • With auto-augmentation: repositioning your own tissue to the upper pole

06 Recovery

  • Swelling and tenderness during the first weeks

  • Wearing a supportive bra

  • Light activities after 1–2 weeks

  • Gradually resuming sports

  • Final result after a few months

08 Disadvantages and possible complications

General risks

  • bleeding (hematoma)

  • infection

  • wound-healing problems

  • delayed scar maturation


Specific considerations

Scars

Anchor-shaped scars are permanent, but they usually fade well.


Nipple sensation

This may change temporarily or permanently.


Rare but serious complication

(Partial) loss of the nipple due to impaired blood supply.

Risk factors:

  • smoking

  • a previous breast lift

  • significant nipple repositioning (approx. 10 cm or more)


If one or more risk factors apply, we always discuss this in detail beforehand. The chance of this complication is very small—but we believe it is important to mention it transparently.
