As breasts sag over the years, not only does the position of the nipple change, but often the shape, projection and cleavage as well. Many women notice that their breasts look emptier, especially in the upper pole, while paradoxically there is still sufficient tissue present.
A breast lift with implants is often the best solution to restore balance to shape, firmness and volume — in a natural way that suits your body.
At Gooimeer Clinics, this procedure is one of our core specialisations.
A breast lift with implants is usually appropriate when:
the nipple sits (well) below the level of the inframammary fold
the breast has visibly sagged after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss
the upper pole looks empty, despite having enough natural breast tissue
you want both shape correction and volume restoration
In these situations, an implant alone is almost never sufficient. It can add volume, but it does not adequately correct the position and shape of the breast.

Many women with sagging breasts still have a fair amount of natural volume. The issue, however, is where that volume sits—usually low in the breast.
With a lift alone, the breast can be lifted and the nipple repositioned, but it is often difficult to create enough long-lasting fullness in the upper pole. By combining the lift with an implant:
the implant serves as central volume support
the breast can be reshaped around it
a natural contour is created with better projection and cleavage
The implant is therefore not an “augmentation for the sake of augmentation,” but a structural tool to restore shape and balance.
Many women feel hesitant beforehand about the scars of a breast lift. In practice, however, we find that:
patient satisfaction is very high
the scars often turn out better than expected
the improvement in shape, position, and confidence more than makes up for it
In addition, a breast lift makes it possible to:
reduce the size of the areola
determine the nipple position with great precision
correct asymmetry more effectively
Dr. Van der Pot and Dr. Ahmed have extensive experience with breast lifts combined with implants. They regularly present their techniques and natural results at international conferences and provide live surgery demonstrations for fellow surgeons.
Their focus is always on:
natural proportions
long-term durability of the result
minimal tension on the skin and scars
In almost every breast lift with implants, we use a form of internal bra technique. The purpose is to provide long-term support for both the implant and the breast tissue, helping the result remain stable.
Depending on your anatomy, this support may consist of:
your own connective tissue
a small portion of muscle
in selected cases: a dissolvable supportive material
Which technique is most suitable is always assessed individually and discussed with you in detail.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and typically takes several hours. You will usually stay one night at the clinic for observation.
During the procedure:
excess skin—and sometimes a small amount of breast tissue—is removed
the nipple and areola are repositioned
the implant is placed as central volume support
the breast is carefully reshaped
Recovery is gradual:
in the first weeks there will be swelling and tenderness
you will wear a supportive bra
light activities are usually possible after 1–2 weeks
exercise is resumed gradually after several weeks
We only assess the final result after a few months, once the swelling has settled and the breasts have fully stabilized.

How visible will the scars remain in the long term after a breast lift with implants?
For most women, the scars fade over the course of months or years and eventually become barely noticeable, especially when resting and wearing lingerie or swimwear.
Is loss of nipple sensation permanent after a breast lift with implants?
Usually not. In many cases, sensation returns partially or completely. Permanent change is possible, but relatively rare.
What happens if I smoke after a breast lift with implants?
Smoking significantly increases the risk of wound problems and nipple complications. Quitting smoking before and after surgery is therefore strongly recommended and sometimes even necessary.
What is the likelihood of nipple necrosis after a breast lift with implants?
This complication is very rare, but the impact is significant. That is why we always discuss this risk openly and honestly when risk factors are present.
Can capsular contracture also occur with a breast lift with implants?
Yes, scar tissue formation is a risk with any surgery involving implants. The chance of this happening is small, but never zero.
Does an internal bra influence complications?
An internal bra is designed to support the result and can actually help to reduce sagging and tension problems. The technique chosen will be tailored to your anatomy.
Will I still be able to breastfeed after a breast lift with implants?
In many cases, breastfeeding remains possible, but this cannot be guaranteed. It depends on the technique used and your initial situation.
Is a breast lift without implants also possible?
Yes, in some cases. If there is sufficient volume and no clear desire for upper pole filling, a lift without implants may suffice. We will discuss this during the consultation.
How long do the results of a breast lift with implants last?
The results are long-lasting, but ageing and gravity naturally continue to play a role. With proper technique and support, the effects usually last for many years.
Can I choose how high the nipple will be positioned during a breast lift with implants?
Within anatomical limits, yes. The exact position is carefully planned in consultation, with an eye for natural proportions.
Will the scars remain visible after a breast lift with implants?
Scars fade over time and eventually become less noticeable in most women. Good aftercare and scar treatment play an important role in this.
A breast lift with implants is more than “lifting and adding volume”. The goal is to restore shape, nipple position and long-term support, with the implant acting as a structural filler to improve upper pole fullness and projection in a durable way. During a personal consultation, we assess your anatomy in detail and advise which approach best matches your body and goals.
During the consultation, you will receive:
an assessment of skin quality, degree of ptosis, nipple/areola position and your desired breast shape
a clear recommendation on whether a breast lift with implants is the best option, or whether another technique is more suitable (e.g., lift without implants or auto-augmentation)
guidance on implant selection based on width, projection and chest proportions (not just cc’s)
a discussion of scar patterns, risks and how we minimise tension on skin and scars
a detailed explanation of recovery, supportive bra guidance, follow-up and aftercare
example results and a personalised treatment plan with transparent pricing
Then we warmly invite you for a personal consultation at Gooimeer Clinics.
