Endoscopic Facial Surgery

Endoscopic procedures are minimally invasive operations in which the surgeon works through a few small incisions using a small camera (endoscope) and delicate instruments. Endoscopic procedures primarily lift and secure deeper tissues (such as connective tissue and muscle layers) to achieve a natural result without tightly pulling the skin.

Endoscopic procedures lift and reinforce underlying structures through small incisions, usually with little to no skin removal. A traditional facelift combines tissue lifting with removal of excess skin. Endoscopic procedures are often best for early to moderate laxity; with significant excess skin, a traditional facelift or neck lift is more commonly required.

Depending on your anatomy, endoscopic procedures can be used for several areas, such as the forehead and brows, the midface (cheeks), and in selected cases the lower face, jawline, or the neck—provided skin quality allows.

Endoscopic procedures are best suited for early to moderate laxity, when the skin still has sufficient elasticity and there is little to no excess skin. Results are often best when the descent is mainly in the deeper tissues and a subtle, natural lift is desired.

Endoscopic procedures are often not sufficient when there is significant excess skin or advanced skin laxity. In those cases, skin removal is needed in addition to lifting, for example with a traditional facelift, neck lift, or a combined approach. This is assessed carefully during your consultation.

Endoscopic procedures use small incisions that are typically placed in the hairline or along natural transitions. As a result, scars are usually minimal and often barely visible once healed. Exact scar placement depends on the treatment area and is discussed beforehand.

Results are typically very natural because endoscopic procedures reposition and secure deeper tissues rather than pulling the skin tight. This helps preserve facial expression and creates a fresher, more rested look without a “surgical” appearance.

Swelling and sometimes bruising are common after endoscopic procedures and gradually subside. Many people return to light daily activities within 1–2 weeks, depending on the treated area and extent. Results continue to develop over the following months as tissues fully heal.
